Alishia Abodunde (b.1991) is a self-taught photographer living and working in London, UK, who instantly fell in love with the authenticity and intimacy of honest storytelling through still imagery.

Making the most of lockdown, whilst working as a nanny, Abodunde created her first body of work - “Locked Down”. A project which documented the daily life of two young children and their navigation through a global pandemic.

During 2023, she began working for global agencies Getty Images and Thomson Reuters. In October of that year, her story on South London’s Black owned ballet school, Pointe Black, was published on Reuters: The Wider Image, garnering national and international acclaim. In December, her story on ‘Noir Kringle: The UK’s only Black Santa experience’ was published on Getty Images and featured in The Guardian.

In the spring of 2024, Abodunde’s visual essay - ‘Dope Black Dads’ - for Getty Images was published in The Guardian.

Recognised as one of The Guardian’s Outstanding agency photographers of 2023 from a global pool of talent, Abodunde's work has been featured in prestigious publications such as BBC News, CNN, The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times and The Wall Street Journal.

As a Black woman in the creative sphere, Abodunde is committed to producing thought-provoking work that amplifies diverse voices and fosters meaningful dialogue – championing underrepresented communities and giving a voice to the marginalised.
